IF Theatre – AI Statement

At IF, we do not censor artists.

IF Theatre’s policy is to not use AI for any of our public-facing (i.e. external) content. We are concerned about the environmental and civil impact of AI art, and our organization believes deeply that it is our job to prepare human artists to make their human work better.

We feel that it is important for accessibility purposes to meet creatives where they are and to assume best intentions. These artists are learning that the ease of AI content may not be worth the impact, and that is a part of what developing as a producer looks like in 2026. At this time, it is not mission driven to exclude a creative from the remainder of our services simply because of the use of AI.

In order to help both artists and audience members make choices that are value-driven, we would love to provide artists training on accessible design tools and create a database of graphic artists and photographers on whom our partners and participants can rely. To do that, we'll need the help of people just like you. Time, skill, and funding are all pieces that play a part in this puzzle. If you have thoughts about how we can better support human-made art and equip our community with those tools, we'd love to have a conversation.
