This week, No Title Needed’s Scott and special guest host Judy Fitzgerald welcomed Paul Daily. Daily spends his time working shoulder to shoulder with some of Indy’s most daring artists putting on shows you need to see to believe as executive director of IndyFringe Theatre.
IndyFringe is celebrating 21 years. Daily talks about the Fringe Festival, in the top 15 of Fringe Festivals in the Country. This year’s festival is August 13 to 23. There will be 250 performances over the course of 11 days.
You can feel the excitement as Daily, a performer himself, describes how much he enjoys himself being a part of this festival. His enthusiasm is contagious as he describes this walkable festival and the events that have been added this year.
“It’s a modern day vaudeville circuit. It’s incredible!”
He talks about the history and background of the Fringe Festival, “Fringe Festival started in Edinburgh right after World War II. Edinburgh wanted to heal the world with art…”
Daily also discusses what they do year round – things most folks aren’t aware of. He discusses the venues for their productions including their home base, If Theater on St. Clair Street, the District, Athenaeum and one at the Murat.
The Fringe includes multiple aspects of the performing arts. Did you know ‘clowning’ is an art form? Tune in to find out more.
Daily, originally from Kokomo, shares his own history and how he came to be such a supporter of the arts from Bloomington, to London, to New York, to Tennessee and ‘back home again’ in Indiana. He shares how he, and the other performers, continually learn and grow from their audience and the feedback that they receive. An opportunity you will have if you come out to join this year’s festival.
