Celebrate Indiana’s musical heritage in this program combining music and spoken commentary. What was happening in New France, later known as the Indiana Territory, when the great composers of the Baroque were active in Europe? European chamber music and Hoosier history mix it up in “When Indiana Was Young.” This program is made possible through a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission Arts in the Parks and Historical Sites program.

IndyBaroque Music, Inc. (IBMI) is the umbrella organization of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra (IBO) and the Indy Baroque Chamber Players (IBCP). We are dedicated to performing music from the 17th- and 18th-centuries using period instruments and historically informed performance practices. IBO is the only professional ensemble of its kind in Central and Southern Indiana and is comprised of 10 and 22 musicians depending on the particular repertoire. Under its internationally renowned Belgian Artistic Director, Barthold Kuijken, the IBO was named one of the top 25 ensembles by Early Music America. We have a long history of collaborations with other local performing organizations including the University of Indianapolis, where IBO has been in residence for 20 years. IBO is a Naxos recording artist orchestra with four CDs released to critical acclaim. https://www.indybaroque.org/
