Founded in 2005 as the IndyFringe Theatre Festival, IF Theatre has grown beyond the initial festival to a thriving, year-round theatre organization that works to develop artists of all levels, training and connecting actors, designers, directors, and audiences.

So What Do We Do?

As Indianapolis’ preeminent arts incubator, IF Theatre supports artists by providing resources for their work year-round. From our vibrant IndyFringe Festival in August, to shows, classes and new theatre productions at our beautiful campus at 719 E. St. Clair Street. The IF Theatre building is home to three distinct venues, perfect for a wide range of artistic performances and corporate events.

About the Fringe Festival

Central to our mission is our commitment to hosting the The Annual IndyFringe Theatre Festival. Since the first festival in 2005, the IndyFringe Theatre Festival has transformed the Mass Ave Cultural Arts District each August.

Now more than double its original size, the festival is home to hundreds of performances by dozens of acts from across the globe. Selected largely by lottery, the Festival provides open and equitable access for artists of all disciplines to bring their work to our great city. From drama, to stand-up, musicals, puppetry, cabaret, magic, storytelling, ballet, aerial dance, and more, all artists and audiences are welcome at IF Theatre’s IndyFringe Festival!
